Artist Bio

PLAYGROUND DETROIT is an art gallery and creative talent agency. Our mission is to create opportunities for artists, creative professionals and residents in order to enhance and develop Detroit’s creative economy.

Services include artwork sales, private and corporate commissions, artist management and development, arts advocacy and special projects curation.

PLAYGROUND DETROIT and our partners bolster the local creative economy and connect artists, collectors, businesses and community through arts and culture. We consider artists as professionals and gauge our success by the successes of those we work with.

The gallery location is available for short term (hourly/daily) and long term (week-month) rental. Permitted Uses include: Performance, Rehearsal, Special Events, Class, Photo Shoot, Video/Film Shoot, Screening, Meeting, Exhibition. Achievments & Highlights

In 2019, PLAYGROUND DETROIT was awarded the Knight Arts Challenge with support of $75,000 for 20/20 Emerging Artists Fellowship Program. In 2018, PLAYGROUND DETROIT received the 2018 GUS Award for the Sustainability and Standards in Social Enterprise during Detroit Startup Week and was announced as a Knight Arts Challenge 2017-18 Finalist.

PLAYGROUND DETROIT is a Motor City Match Program awardee, and as a result, opened our commercial gallery storefront at 2845 Gratiot Avenue in the district of McDougall-Hunt, which borders Eastern Market. After a complete interior renovation of the space led by dPOP interior design, the gallery opened in November 2017.
